Friday the 13th is just like any other day. Except that some superstitious people view it as having a bit more spookiness surrounding it. People often imagine it to be an exceptionally unlucky day. Some people even go so far as to adjust their daily routine to avoid doing certain things (flying, doing business, or even getting out of bed)! Oddly, this year, there are THREE Friday the 13th’s: Today, March 13th, and November 13th. So you’ll get a few chances to see how unlucky it may be.
According to some sources, perhaps up to $800-$900 MILLION dollars is lost in business on this day, due to people’s phobias of doing stuff on the 13th. We certainly haven’t done any studies, but it seems like it may be possible, because, of course, as much as we laugh at those silly superstitions, I hardly ever see a #13 button in an elevator. This particular Friday the 13th was actually quite busy for us, but only because of the day that follows… February 14th: Valentine’s Day.
But tonight’s still all about the Black of Friday, and so here’s a link to 15 short stories I read recently to put a bit of shiver into your night. Fair warning, if you scare easily, don’t read this with the lights off! And if you’re somehow sleeping alone tonight… good luck…
SPOILER ALERT! Here’s a sample of one of the stories I found pretty creepy:
1. One night, I was babysitting my friend’s children. The youngest (about 5 years old) drew a picture of a woman hanging from the ceiling, looked up at me and said, “She told me to draw this. She’s coming for you. Hide.”
